Additional Help When Your Computer Fails: 10 Tips

So many things can go wrong with your computer: spyware invasions, viruses, bad drivers, malfunctioning components, hardware conflicts, --the list goes on and on. But where can you turn for help when something goes wrong with your computer?

Although it's easy to pick up the phone and call that friend who always seem to have the answer, or post a message to your favorite tech forum, you might want to take a few steps to try to solve the problem on your own

Here are ten steps that can help you solve your problems faster.

1. Reboot.

Windows sometimes gets into a confused state, and by simply rebooting you can clear the memory and everything will work fine again. If you're having a problem connecting to the Internet using a dialup connection, often times, a restart fixes the connection issue. If you have DSL and also have a router, reset BOTH the DSL modem and router by unplugging and rebooting them.

2. Update your system.

Make sure that you are using the latest drivers for your hardware--and that you've installed all the Windows Updates--and you are properly running both antivirus and ad ware blocking applications--and check for updates to any applications you use, especially any that seem to be related to your current computer problem.
